This afternoon I thought that I would see how the recent rain has effected a couple of old roads in Apollo Bay, up the Wild Dog and then up Busty. It’s a great drive, the swell was up, it was cold, windy and everything is saturated water running down every gully and mud everywhere. Everyone and thing is trying to keep warm and dry. I got out of the car to take a few snaps and after the first one I thought the car interior must have been dripping water onto my leg but there was no sign of it so I just ignored it, sort of. I had a sense something was not quite right. It seems even the leeches where looking for a warm dry lift.

Archie meets another whippet at Skenes Creek

I often take our whippet Archie to the beach at Skenes Creek for a run. On this occasion the weather was great and we were greeted by a lovely white whippet on a red lead running towards us dragging a half brick behind it. The idea I guess was to weigh down the lead and prevent the dog running away. It didn’t work.

What an amazing micro climate there is in Apollo Bay. I love how heavily it can impact on what you can do and the enormous variability that can be experienced from the top of Killala down to the Bay and beyond in any direction.

up and running?

Almost there with the web site then another glitch but this time with the ISP, so a few more tweaks with time zones and and data uploads and changing password and access and things should be stable. Lots of new features like the tide information will be added from time to time.

Since I first installed the weather station I have learnt a lot about what it takes to keep it running. Now with the relocation and the recent replacement of hardware components including the uploading PC I thought it was about time to look at the software and internet side of things. Over the next few weeks I will be experimenting with new software and data presentation. The old data will be included ASAP. Feed back and comments always welcome.
